Reliance on platform gatekeepers makes distribution rented rather than owned

Publishing information today is easy. Getting people to actually find it is hard.

Most internet distribution is controlled by platforms: search engines, social networks, video services, marketplaces, and major content hubs.

They decide who gets to see the material and optimize their algorithms for their own metrics and business model.

As a result, a specialist who exists only as LinkedIn → GitHub → resume has almost no ownership over their own distribution. An algorithm changes—and their visibility can vanish.

Personal websites and public projects do not replace platforms, but they create an independent foundation: domains, pages, links, history, and their own context.

It benefits a solopreneur to use third-party platforms as channels, but not to build their entire discoverability model on them alone.

This leads to the Concept «A solopreneur must own their distribution infrastructure».
