Every solopreneur project must create an information asset
Every solopreneur project must create an information asset
A project should not be evaluated solely on whether it becomes a successful product. For a solopreneur, the cumulative effect matters.
Even if a specific hypothesis didn't work out, a project can leave behind:
- a domain;
- indexed pages;
- technical expertise;
- a case study;
- articles and Concepts;
- links and mentions;
- data;
- new competencies;
- a reputation footprint.
In this case, failure does not mean starting from scratch. Part of the capital is carried over into the next projects.
This is fundamentally different from the model where each new startup exists in isolation and almost completely disappears upon closure. For a solopreneur, projects can form a long chain of knowledge accumulation and distribution.
Therefore, a good pet project, research site, or experiment should create not only a functional result, but also a public information footprint.
This principle reinforces own distribution infrastructure and at the same time continues the idea of accumulating competencies instead of outsourcing them: every project increases both the internal and external capital of the solopreneur.
